Five more with Geeta Dutt

I heard some more songs by Geeta and thought I ought to add them, as they were simply awesome:
1. Jiya Mora Haale Dole Ho (Kaneez - 1949)

Geeta sings for Kuldip Kaur, and Kuldip Kaur is certainly fun to watch here.

2. Pake Nazron Ka Ishara (Kaneez - 1949)

Geeta is simply super, and Kuldip Kaur is very nice.

3. Ghoonghat Ke Pat Khol Re (Jogan - 1950)
A lovely Bhajan of the great saint-poetess Meerabai by Geeta, filmed on Nargis.

4. Aye Dil Mujhe Bata De (Bhai Bhai - 1956)

Geeta sings this gem for her frequent actress-partner: the sweet Shyama, who is a wamp in this movie.

5. See Le Zuban (Nau Do Gyarah - 1957)
Another lovely melody by Geeta, picturised on Shashikala.
Geeta Dutt is certainly extraordinarily talented.

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, last part 15

This is the last part of my tribute to Madam Geeta Dutt. So I shall end it with two songs:
15. the romantic Khayalon Mein Kisi Ke (Bawre Nain - 1950) by Geeta and Mukesh, with Raj Kapoor and Vijay Lakshmi on screen

Both Geeta and Mukesh sing very nicely, but I don't like Raj Kapoor(sorry to the Raj Kapoor fans).

16. the lively Tadbeer Bana Le (Baazi - 1951) for the lively and natural Geeta Bali; one Geeta sings for another! Also, the sweet Dev Anand is nearby.

Geeta's voice one which can express a variety of feelings, from liveliness, sadness, romanticism, and many other feelings.

So hereby I end my tribute to Madam, may her sole rest in peace.
Three cheers for her!
Hip Hip Hurray!
Hip Hip Hurray!
Hip Hip Hurray!

In this photo she looks very nice. She was the heroine of a few films, Gauri(1958) and Badhu Bharan(1967).

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 14

I have previously posted many 40s songs of Geeta dut, so let me post the last two songs from post-40s movies. Here comes the delightful:

14. Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam (Kagaz Ke Phool - 1959)

A truly fantastic song by Geeta, and really expressive. Picturised on Waheeda Rehman and Guru Dutt.

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 13

13. Jawani Agar Hai (Neel Kamal - 1947)

This film has some of the best Geeta-Rajkumari duets. This song is very nice, and Madhubala is verrry young (13 years old!) and very sweet, but I don't like Raj Kapoor (sorry to his fans). Many of the girls in this movie (like the one in the previous song and the two girls in this song) appear in some of Madam Noorjehan's pre-partition movie songs, in films like Zeenat and Village Girl (both in 1945).

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 12

12. Maa Ne Bheja Dhor Charane (Neel Kamal - 1947)

The song is one of the best duets by Rajkumari and Geeta, although Rajkumari sings most of the song. B. Vasudev's music is superb. The dancer girl it is picturised on appears in many other movies like Zeenat and Elaan. Madhubala (Rajkumari sang for her) and Raj Kapoor played their first lead roles in the film.

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 11

11. Here is a beautiful melody by Geeta and the great Sureeli (melodious) Suraiya.
Preet Ka Nata Jodnewale (Afsar - 1950)

This is the only duet sung by Geeta and Suraiya. The song is a very differenty-tuned melodious number, composed by the genius S. D. Burman.

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 10

10. Kis Paapi Sang Uljhi Ankhiyaan, Haaye Ankhiyaan (Suhaag Raat - 1948)

Another lovely Rajkumari-Geeta duet. The hide-and-seek thing looks very sweet.

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 9

9.Baaje Mori Payal Thummak Thummak (Suhaag Raat - 1948)

This is also a very nice Rajkumari-Geeta song. Bharat Bhushan looks very handsome and Geeta Bali looks very beautiful. Both of them look very young.

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 8

Here is another melodious Rajkumari-Geeta duet:

8. Roomjhoom Matware Badal Cha Gaye (Suhaag Raat - 1948)

Another melodious number the singers are Rajkumari and Geeta.

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 7

7. Mere Dil Ki Dhadkanon Mein Sakhi (Suhaag Raat - 1948)

One Geeta sings for another girl, not Bali. The other singer is the superb Rajkumari who sings for a very young Geeta Bali, who debuted with this film.

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 6

Here is a song by four of my favourite singers:

6. Jab Chand Jawan Hoga (Bairam Khan -1946)

This is sung by four singers: Geeta Dutt, Shamshad Begum, Naseem Begum, Munawar Sultana. A very nice song, one of Geeta's early songs; she joint the film industry in this year - 1946. Ghulam Haider's music is superb.

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 5

Here is another song from Actress:

5. Ankhon Ankhon Mein (Actress - 1948)

Now this is a different song, as all the previous ones were happier. I think this is a sad and melodious song. Again, Geeta's co-singer is Shamshad Begum.

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 4

Here is one of her early songs:

4. Oh gori tera baanka chhaila (Actress - 1948)

A very happy and foot-tapping number by Geeta and the great Madam Shamshad Begum, another very rare voice. The rendition and Shyam Sundar's composition really match each other.

To be continued......

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 3

Here is a lovely and lively song:

3. Sun Sun Sun Sun Zalima, Ja Ja Ja Ja Bewafa( Aar Paar - 1954)

This is a duet by Geeta Dutt and Mohammed Rafi - another really, really great singer and one of my favourite - and it sounds very fun and jolly. Picturised  on Shyama - for whom Geeta often sung - and Guru Dutt, the great actor-director.

To be continued........

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 2

Here I continue my tribute to Geeta Dutt with:

2. Babuji Dheere Chalna ( Aar Paar - 1954)

Another very lively and melliflous number by Geeta Dutt. Picturised on sweet Shakila's dance. Many of Geeta Dutt's best songs are from her husband, Guru Dutt's films.

Remembering Geeta Dutt - 38th Death Anniversary, part 1

Welcome to my blog about my favourite vintage Bollywood stuff.
I shall start with a tribute to Madam Geeta Dutt, one of my favourite singers, whose thirty-eighth death anniversary was on 20th July. She had a rare and easily distinguishable voice, which was superb. Here are a list of my 15 favourite Geeta Dutt songs. It was very difficult to enlist it, as all the songs sung by her are very, very melodious. I feel kind of close to her because we both share the same date of birth - 23rd November!

Here is website which is a must for all Geeta Dutt fans : www.geetadutt.com

1. Kuch Mere Dil Mein Fiffi (C.I.D. - 1956)

This is  a song which I definitely have to include, one of my all time favourites, with Geeta Dutt's fun and vivacious voice. Picturised on a young and beautiful Waheeda Rehman, here she made her debut in Hindi films with CID. I have seen the video is unfortunately not available on Youtube, as I believe it was later deleted due to censorship reasons, according to www.geetadutt.com(A superb official tribute website, a must watch site). I recently, again enjoyed all the golden melodies of the film and realised how only the background music of the song appears when Dev Anand Ji climbs up the stairs in a scene, really unfortunate.....
